Question

Cards numbered from 11 to 60 are kept in a box. If a card is drawn at random from the box, find the probability that the number on the drawn card is divisible by 5

Solution

Total possible outcomes = {11, 12, 13, ...60} = 50
Favourable outcome for getting a number divisible by 5 = {15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50, 55, 60}=10
P (getting a number divisible by 5) =Favourable outcomesTotal outcomes=1050=15
