A bag contains cards numbered from 1 to 49. A card is drawn from the bag at random, after mixing the cards thoroughly. Find the probability that the number on the drawn card is an odd number.

Solution

Total number of cards = 49

Total number of outcomes = 49

The odd numbers form 1 to 49 are 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, 15, 17, 19, 21, 23, 25, 27, 29, 31, 33, 35, 37, 39, 41, 43, 45, 47 and 49.

Total number of favourable outcomes = 25

∴ Required probability `="Total number of favourable outcomes"/"Total number of outcomes"=25/49`
