Question
Check whether the given lines are parallel or perpendicular
`x/3 + y/4 + 1/7` = 0 and `(2x)/3 + y/2 + 1/10` = 0
Solution
`x/3 + y/4 + 1/7` = 0, `(2x)/3 + y/2 + 1/10` = 0
Slope of the line (m1) = `(-"a")/"b"`
= `-1/3 ÷ 1/4`
= `-1/3 xx 4/1`
= `-4/3`
Slope of the line (m2) = `-2/3 ÷ 1/2`
= `-2/3 xx 2/1`
= `-4/3`
m1 = m2 = `-4/3`
∴ The two lines are parallel.
