Question
Determine if the following ratio form a proportion:
25 cm : 1 m and Rs 40 : Rs 160
Solution
25 cm:1 m and Rs 40:Rs 160
(or) 25 cm:100 cm and Rs 40:Rs 160
`25/100=(25 ÷ 25)/(100 ÷ 25)=1/4` and `40/160=( 40 ÷ 40)/(160 ÷ 40)=1/4`
Hence, they are in proportion.
