Question
Divide 5z3 − 6z2 + 7z by 2z.
Solution
\[\frac{5 z^3 - 6 z^2 + 7z}{2z}\]
\[ = \frac{5 z^3}{2z} - \frac{6 z^2}{2z} + \frac{7z}{2z}\]
\[ = \frac{5}{2} z^{(3 - 1)} - 3 z^{(2 - 1)} + \frac{7}{2}\]
\[ = \frac{5}{2} z^2 - 3z + \frac{7}{2}\]
