Question
Find the distance between the following pair of point in the coordinate plane :
(5 , -2) and (1 , 5)
Solution
A (5 , -2) , B (1 , 5)
AB = `sqrt (("x"_2 - "x"_1)^2 + ("y"_2 - "y"_1)^2)`
`= sqrt ((1 - 5)^2 + (5 + 2)^2)`
`= sqrt (16+49)`
`= sqrt 65` units .
