Find the ratio of the price of a pencil to that of a ball pen if pencils cost Rs 96 per score and ball pens cost Rs 50.40 per dozen.
Solution
Price of pencil = Rs 96 per score
Price of ball pen = Rs 50.40 per dozen
1 score = 20
20 pencils cost = Rs 96
Price per unit of pencil = `96/20` = 4.8
Price per unit of ball pen = `50.40/12` = 4.2
Ratio = `4.8/4.2=48/42=(48 ÷ 6)/(42 ÷ 6)=8/7`
Price of a pencil : Price of a ball pen = 8 : 7
