Find the value of a line perpendicular to the given line x-4y = 8
Solution
When the lines are perpendicular to the product of their slopes is -1
i.e m1 x m2 = -1
x - 4y = 8
4y = x - 8
y = `1/4"x" - 2`
m1 = `1/4`
Required slope = `(-1)/"m"_1`= -4
