Question

Find X, if  `Y = [(3, 2),(1,4)]` and `2X + Y = [(1, 0),(-3, 2)]`

Sum

Solution

Given:
2X + Y = `[(1, 0),(-3, 2)]`

⇒ 2X = 2X + Y = `[(1, 0),(-3, 2)] - "Y"`

⇒ 2X = `[(1, 0),(-3, 2)] - [(3, 2),(1, 4)]`

= `[(1 - 3, 0 - 2),(-3 - 1, 2 - 4)]`

= `[(-2, -2),(-4, - 2)]`

X = `(1)/(2)[(-2, -2),(-4, -2)]`

= `[(-1, -1),(-2, -1)]`.
