Question
From a tap of inner radius 0.80 cm, water flows at the rate of 7 m/s. Find the volume in litres of water delivered by the pipe in 75 minutes.
Solution
Inner radius of tap = 0.8cm
Circular area
= πR2
= π(0.8)2
= 0.64πcm2
Rate of water flow
= 7m/s
= 700cm/s
Volume of water flowing out of the tap in one second
= rate of flowing of water x circular ara of tap.
= 700 x 0.64π
= 700 x 0.64x 3.142
=1408cm3
So volume of water flowing out in 75minutes i.e. 75 x 60 s
= 1408 x 75 x 60cm3
= 6336000cm3
= `(63336000)/(1000)"litres"`
= 6336litres
∴ Volume of water delivered by the pipe is 6336litres.
