Question
If a tree 24 m high casts a shadow of 15 m, then the height of a pole that casts a shadow of 6 m under similar conditions is 9.6 m.
Options
True
False
Solution
This statement is True.
Explanation:
∵ Height of a tree = 24 m
Then, its shadow = 15 m
With the similar condition, if a pole has a shadow of length = 6 m
Let the height of pole = x m
Since, length and shadow vary directly.
Then, `24/15 = x/6`
15 × x = 24 × 6 ...[By cross-multiplication]
⇒ `x = (24 xx 6)/15`
⇒ x = 9.6 m ...[∵ Height and shadow ratio are same]
