Question
If the radius of a cylinder is doubled and height is halved, the volume will be doubled.
Options
True
False
Solution
This statement is True.
Explanation:
Let the radius of a cylinder be r and height be h.
Then, volume of a cylinder, V1 = πr2h
If radius of a cylinder, R = 2r
And height of a cylinder, `H = h/2`
∴ Volume of a cylinder, V2 = πR2H
= `pi(2r)^2 h/2`
= 2πr2h
= 2 × V1
Hence, if the radius of a cylinder is doubled and height of a cylinder is halved, then volume of a cylinder is doubled.
