Question
In a mixture of two liquids A and B, 35% is liquid B. If the total quantity of the mixture is 20 kg, find the quantity of A, by weight.
Solution
Total quantity of A and B = 20 kg
Quantity of B = 35% of 20 = `35/100xx20` = 7 kg
Quantity of A = Total quantity – Quantity of B = 20 kg – 7 kg
= 13 kg
Hence, quantity of A = 13 kg.
