Question

In an election, two candidates A and B contested. A got 60% of the votes. The total votes polled were 8000. How many votes did each get?

Sum

Solution

Total number of votes polled = 8000

A got 60% of the votes

A got total votes = 60% of 8000 = `8000 xx 60/100 = 4800`

∴ B got total votes = 8000 - 4800 = 3200
