In the given figure, if l || m, find the values of a and b.
Solution
Since, l, m are parallel lines and t is transversal.
Therefore, ∠EAB + ∠DBA = 180°
⇒ b + 132° = 180° ......[Consecutive interior angles]
⇒ b = 180° – 132°
⇒ b = 48°
Again, l m are parallel lines and s is transversal.
Therefore, ∠EAC + ∠BCA = 180°
⇒ a + b + 65° = 180° ......[Consecutive interior angles]
⇒ a + 48° + 65° = 180° ......[∵ b = 48°]
⇒ a = 180° – 48° – 65°
⇒ a = 67°
