Question

Simplify:

\[2a - [4b - {4a - (3b - 2a + 2b)}]\]
Sum

Solution

`2a - [4b - {4a - (3b - overline(2a + 2b))}]`
We will first remove the innermost grouping symbol bar bracket. Next, we will remove ( ), followed by { } and then [ ].
∴ `2a - [4b - {4a - (3b - overline(2a + 2b))}]`
= 2a-[4b-{4a-(3b-2a-2b)}]
= 2a-[4b-{4a-(b-2a)}]
= 2a-[4b-{4a-b+2a}]
=2a-[4b-{6a-b}]
= 2a-[4b-6a+b]
= 2a-[5b-6a]
= 2a-5b+6a
= 8a-5b
