Question
Solve 2 ≤ 2x – 3 ≤ 5, x ∈ R and mark it on number line.
Solution
2 ≤ 2x – 3 ≤ 5 .
2 ≤ 2x – 3 and 2x – 3 ≤ 5
2 + 3 ≤ 2x and 2x ≤ 5 + 3
5 ≤ 2x and 2x ≤ 8.
∴ `(5)/(2) ≤ x and x ≤ 4`
∴ `(5)/(2) ≤ x ≤ 4`
∴ Solution set = `{x : x ∈ "R", (5)/(2) ≤ x ≤ 4}`
