Question

Solve the following equation and verify the answer:

\[\frac{3x}{10} - 4 = 14\]
Sum

Solution

\[\frac{3x}{10} - 4 = 14\]
or, \[\frac{3x}{10} - 4 + 4 = 14 + 4\] [Adding 4 on both the sides]
or, \[\frac{3x}{10} = 18\]
or, \[\frac{3x}{10} \times 10 = 18 \times 10\] [Multiplying both the sides by 10]
or, \[3x = 180\]
or, \[\frac{3x}{3} = \frac{180}{3}\] [Dividing both the sides by 3]
or, x = 60
Verification:
Substituting x = 60 on both the sides:
\[\frac{3 \times 60}{10} - 4 \]
\[ = \frac{180}{10} - 4 = 18 - 4 = 14 = R . H . S .\]
L.H.S. = R.H.S.
Hence, verified.
