Question

Solve: `("x - 1")/2 - ("x - 2")/3 - ("x - 3")/4 = 0`

Sum

Solution

∴ `("x - 1")/2 - ("x - 2")/3 - ("x - 3")/4 = 0`

⇒ `(6("x" - 1) -4("x" - 2)-3("x" - 3))/12 = 0`

⇒ 6(x - 1) - 4(x - 2) - 3(x - 3) = 0 × 12

⇒ 6x - 6 - 4x + 8 - 3x + 9 = 0

⇒ 6x - 4x - 3x - 6 + 8 + 9 = 0

⇒ 6x - 7x = 6 - 8 - 9

⇒ - x = 6 - 17

⇒ - x = - 11

∴ x = 11
