Question

What happens when AgCl is doped with 2? CdCl What is the name of this defect?

Sum

Solution

When AgCl is doped with CdCl
In this case two Ag ions are replaced by one  Cd+2 ions.
The 2 Cd2+ ion occupies the site of one of the Ag- ion and a cation vacancy is created at the site of the other  Ag- ion.
The cationic vacancies thus produced are equal in number to that of Cd2+ ions. This is impurity defect.
