Question
The price of a scooter including sales tax at the rate of 11% is Rs 37,462.50. Find the basic price of the scooter.
Solution
Let the basic price of the soooter be x
Rate of sales tax = 11 %
Therefore, total price of the T.V. set =
Rs `"x" + ("x" xx 11)/100`
= Rs `(111 "x")/100`
Total price of the soooter given = Rs 37,462.50
`therefore (111 "x")/100 = "Rs" 37462.50`
⇒ 111 x - Rs 37,46,250
⇒ x = Rs `3746250/111`
⇒ x = Rs 33750
Hence, the basic price of the soooter = Rs 33, 750
