Question

There are six cards in a box, each bearing a number from 0 to 5. Find the probability of the following event, that a card drawn show,  number less than 1.

Solution

Total number of cards = 6

Number of cards bearing a number less than 1 = 1

Therefore, required probability =`\text { Number of cards bearing a natural numberless than 1}/\text { Total number of cards}`

= `1/6`

Hence, the probability that a card drawn shows a number less than 1 is  `=1/6`.
