Question
Two numbers are in the ratio 7 : 10. If 8 is added to each number, the ratio becomes 3 : 4. Find the nLimbers.
Solution
Let the two numbers be 7x and 10x; since the ratio between numbers is 7 : 10
Now,
`(7"x" + 8)/(10"y" + 8) = 3/4`
⇒ 28 x + 32 = 30 x + 24
⇒ 2x = 8
⇒ x = 4
∴ 7x = 28
10 x = 40
Therefore, two numbers are 28 and 40.
