Question
Which of the following ratio is greater ?
`5/2 : 15/4` and `5/3 : 11/6`
Solution
`5/2 : 15/4` and `5/3 : 11/6`
`5/2 : 15/4 = 5/2 xx 4/15 = 2/3`
`5/3 : 11/6 = 5/3 xx 6/11 = 10/11`
`2/3 : 10/11`
⇒ 2 x 11 < 3 x 10
⇒ 22 < 30
⇒ 2: 3 < 10 : 11
⇒ `5/2 : 15/4 < 5/3 : 11/6`
`5/3 : 11/6` is greater.
