Question
What is the special feature of the structure of (i) ethene (ii) ethyne
Solution
i. H2C = CH2 (Ethene)
Ethene contains a double bond. In ethene, the two carbon atoms form a double bond.
ii. HC ≡ CH (Ethyne)
The C ≡ C bond is very strong due to the presence of two π bonds, making ethyne more reactive than ethane.
