Question
What type of stoichiometric defect is shown by NaCl ?
Solution
NaCl exhibit Schottky defect. In this type of defect, if an ionic crystal such as NaCl, equal number of cations and anions are missing from their lattice sites so that the electrical neutrality is maintained. This is basically a vacancy defect.
