Let A = {x : `(x − 4)/(x + 2)` = 3, x ∈ R – {– 2}}
⇒ `(x − 4)/(x + 2)` = 3
⇒ x – 4 = 3(x + 2)
⇒ x – 4 = 3x + 6
⇒ 3x – x = – 4 – 6
⇒ 2x = – 10
⇒ x = `- 10/2` = – 5
