Question
Write the general definition of electric dipole moment for a collection of point charge.
Solution
The electric dipole moment vector lies along the line joining two charges and is directed from -q to + q. The SI unit of dipole moment is a coulomb meter (Cm).
`vec"P" = "qa" hat"i" - "qa"(- hat"i") = 2 "qa" hat"i"`
