Write the greatest common factor in the following terms.

3x2y, 18xy2, – 6xy

Sum

Solution

We have,

3x2y = 3 × x × x × y

18xy2 = 3 × 6 × x × y × y

– 6xy = –1 × 3 × 2 × x × y

∴ The greatest common factor i.e. GCF is 3xy.
