1.  Heavy rainfall leaches out all soluble materials from the top layer of the soils leaving behind the high proportion of residual (remaining), insoluble iron and aluminum oxides in the soil.
 
2. Such soil is called Laterite soil. It is formed in regions receiving heavy rainfall.
