प्रश्न
What is peptide linkage?
उत्तर
A peptide linkage (a peptide bond) is the amide linkage (-CONH-), which is formed between the two amino acid molecules.
The general formula of a peptide bond can be written as follows:
\[\begin{array}{cc}
\ce{R - CH - CO - NH - CH - R}\\
|\phantom{..................}|\phantom{..}\\
\phantom{.}\ce{NH2}\phantom{...............}\ce{NH2}
\end{array}\]
where [- CO - NH - ] is the peptide linkage.
