Types of Inertia:

  1. Inertia of the State of Rest: An object at rest cannot move by itself and stays stationary unless an external force acts on it. For example, a book on a table will remain at rest until someone pushes or lifts it.
  2. Inertia of Motion: An object in motion will keep moving at the same speed and direction unless an external force slows it down or stops it. For example, a rotating fan keeps spinning even after it is turned off, or passengers in a moving bus are thrown forward when the bus suddenly stops.
  3. Directional Inertia: An object will keep moving in the same direction unless a force changes its direction. For example, when a vehicle suddenly turns, passengers are pushed to the side opposite the turn due to their resistance to the change in direction.
