It is given that ( 2, 2 ) is a solution of the equation 5x + ky = 4
∴ 5 × 2 + k × ( -2 ) = 4
⇒ 10 - 2k = 4
⇒ - 2 k = 4 - 10
⇒ -2k = - 6
⇒ k = 3 .
