Question
1000 calories of radiant heat are incident on a body. If the body absorbs 400 calories of heat, find the coefficient of emission of the body.
Solution
Given: Q = 1000 cal, Qa = 400 cal
To find: Coefficient of emission (e)
Formula:
- a = `Q_a/Q`
- a = e
Calculation:
From formula (i),
a = `400/1000 = 0.4`
From Formula (ii),
e = a = 0.4
The coefficient of emission of the body is 0.4.
