Question

2.2 cubic dm of brass is to be drawn into a cylindrical wire 0.25 cm in diameter. Find the length of the wire.

One Line Answer
Sum

Solution

Diameter of the cylindrical wire = 0.25 cm
Radius of the cylindrical wire = 0.125 cm
 Volume of the brass = 2.2 dm3 = 2200 cm3
Volume of the brass = Volume of the cylindrical wire
\[\text{ Length of wire }= \frac{2200 {\text{ cm }}^3}{\frac{22}{7} \times \left( 0. 125\text{ cm }\right)^2} = 44800 cm = 448 m\]
Thus, length of the wire is 448 m.
