Question
Cards bearing numbers 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18 and 20 are kept in a bag. A card is drawn at random from the bag. Find the probability of getting a card which is:
1) a prime number
2) a number divisible by 4.
3) a number that is a multiple of 6.
4) an odd number.
Solution
Total number of cards 10
1) Prime number card is 2
⇒ Number of favourable outcomes 1
∴ Required probability = `1/10`
2) Cards having number divisible by 4 are 4, 8, 12, 16, 20.
⇒ Number of favourable outcomes = 5
∴ Required probability = `5/10 = 1/2`
3) Cards having the number that is multiple of 6 are 6, 12, 18
⇒ Number of favourable outcomes = 3
∴ Required probability = `3/10`'
4) Odd number card is not there.
⇒ Number of favourable outcomes = 0
∴ Required probability = 0
