Question

Construct a 2 × 2 matrix, `A = [a_(ij)]`  whose elements are given by `a_(ij) = (1 + 2j)^2/2`

Sum

Solution

We have aij = `((i + 2j)^2)/(2)`

a11 = `((1 + 2 xx 1)^2)/(2) = (9)/(2)`

a12 = `((1 + 2 xx 1)^2)/(2) = (25)/(2)`

a21 = `((2 + 2 xx 1)^2)/(2) = (16)/(2)` = 8

a22 = `((2 + 2 xx 2)^2)/(2)` = 18.

The required matrix

A = `[(a_11 , a_12),(a_21 ,a_22)]`

A = `[(9/2, 25/2),(8,18)]`.
