Under this Act, a woman worker can get maternity leave for up to 26 weeks. Out of this, not more than 8 weeks must pass prior to the delivery of the child. During the period of leave, the employee is entitled to a full wage or salary. In addition, a medical bonus of ₹ 25 per day is payable if the employer provides no free medical care.
