Question
Find the distance between the following pairs of point in the coordinate plane :
(7 , -7) and (2 , 5)
Solution
A (7 , -7) , B (2 , 5)
AB = `sqrt (("x"_2 - "x"_1)^2 + ("y"_2 - "y"_1)^2)`
`= sqrt ((2 - 7)^2 + (5 + 7)^2)`
`= sqrt (25 + 144)`
`= sqrt 169` = 13 units .
