Question

Find the median of the following data (1-8)

25, 34, 31, 23, 22, 26, 35, 29, 20, 32

Solution

Given number are 25, 34, 31, 23, 22, 26, 35, 29, 20, 32
Arranging in increasing order
20, 22, 23, 25, 26, 29, 31, 32, 34, 35
10 = n  (even)

∴ Median = `(n^(th)/2 value + (n^(th)/2+1) value)/2`

              =   `(10^(th)/2 value + (10^(th)/2+1) value)/2`

              =   `(5^(th) value + 6^(th)value)/2`

              =    `(26 + 29)/2 = 55/2`
