Question
Find the median of the following data (1-8)
12, 17, 3, 14, 5, 8, 7, 15
Solution
Given numbers are 12, 17, 3, 14, 5, 8, 7, 15
Arranging in increasing order 3, 5, 7, 8, 12, 14, 15, 17
n=8(even)
∴ Median =`(n^(th)/2 value + (n^(th)/2+1) value)/2`
= `(8^(th)/2 value + (8^(th)/2+1) value)/2`
= `(4^(th)value + 5^(th)value)/ 2`
= `(8+12) /2 = 20 / 2`
∴ Median = 10
