Question

Find the number of plants in each row if 1024 plants are arranged so that number of plants in a row is the same as the number of rows.

Sum

Solution

Given: Total number of plants arranged = 1024

Suppose number of plants in each row be ‘x’.

So, as per the condition given in the question,

Total number of plants = x × x

1024 = x2

By taking square root on both side,

x = `sqrt(1024)`

x = `sqrt(32 xx 32)`

x = `sqrt(32^2)`

x = 32

Hence, the number of plants in each row is 32.
