Question

Find the volume of a solid hemisphere whose total surface area is 462 sq.m.

Sum

Solution

Given, total surface area of solid hemisphere = 462 cm2

⇒ 3πr2 = 462

⇒ r2 = `(462 xx 7)/(3 xx 22)`

⇒ r2 = 49

⇒ r = 7

Now, volume of hemisphere = `2/3 πr^3`

= `2/3 xx 22/7 xx (7)^3`

= `(2 xx 22 xx 7 xx 7)/3`

= 718.67 cm3
