Question
Find which of the following equations are quadratic:
x2 + 5x – 5 = (x – 3)2
Solution
x2 + 5x – 5 = (x – 3)2
`\implies` x2 + 5x – 5 = x2 – 6x + 9
`\implies` 11x – 14 = 0; which is not of the form ax2 + bx + c = 0.
∴ Given equation is not a quadratic equation.
