Question

For a certain reaction large fraction of molecules has energy more than the threshold energy, yet the rate of reaction is very slow. Why?

Short Note

Solution

The two most important conditions for a reaction to occur according to the collision theory are:

1. Energy is greater than activation energy and proper orientation of reactant molecules at the time of the collision.

2. So when the reaction occurs then molecules that don’t have a proper orientation decreases the rate of a reaction.
