Write the same discussion in the form of dialogues that you have experienced. Write suitable dialogues for each participant giving his/her opinion on the given topic.
Solution
Instructor: | As you have been informed previously, today’s group discussion is on the topic ‘Flood Situation and Mitigating the Natural Disasters’. What are your opinions about it? |
Rashmi: | India is surrounded by water on three sides. Coastal areas see a lot of floods in India and hence, it is a constant necessity to be prepared for such situations. |
George: | I agree. It severely impacts states like Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Assam and Gujarat. The damage on crops, private property as well as Human lives is large and devastating. |
Malini: | And that is why we need to employ proper safety measures before as well as after the disaster. Be it floods or any other natural disaster, we should always be prepared to help and manage the situation. |
Adil: | Steps to prevent floods such as building dams and dykes, naturally bending the river flow, satellite image mapping, as well as irrigation and afforestation, have proven effective. Newer constructions need to be disaster-resistant and strong along with the usage of fire retardant materials. |
Vinisha: | Property and life should be well insured. People should be informed beforehand about the standard protocol to follow in situations like these. As soon as the alert is received, immediate help from the Government and Military should be provided. |
George: | For other natural disasters too, people should be informed and educated beforehand. In situations like these, staying away from buildings and houses, water bodies and electric poles is the first step to follow. |
Instructor: | Thank you, this was a great discussion and each one of you contributed some very important ideas. |
