Question

Net capacitance of three identical capacitors in series is 2 μF. What will be their net capacitance if connected in parallel?

Solution

When connected in series, the net capacitance is 2 μF.

z1C+1C+1C=12

C=6μF

When connected in parallel,

Ceq = C1 + C2 + C3 = 6 μF + 6 μF + 6 μF = 18 μF.
