Question
Out of \[\ce{Cu2Cl2}\] and \[\ce{CuCl2}\], which is more stable and why?
Solution
\[\ce{CuCl2}\] is more stable than \[\ce{Cu2Cl2}\] . The stability of \[\ce{CuCl2}\] is because of high enthalpy of hydration of \[\ce{Cu^2+ (aq)}\] than that of \[\ce{Cu+ (aq)}\].
