Question

Solve the following equation: 25x (x + 1) = -4

Sum

Solution

25x (x + 1) = -4

`"x"^2 + "x" = -4/25`

`"x"^2 + "x" + 4/25 = 0`

`"x"^2 + 1/5 "x" + 4/5 "x" + 4/25 = 0`

`"x" ("x" + 1/5) + 4/5 ("x" + 4/25) =0`

`("x" + 1/5)("x" + 4/5) = 0`

`("x" + 1/5) = 0` , `("x" + 4/5) = 0`

x = `-1/5` , x = `-4/5`
