Question

The value of k for which x − 1 is a factor of 4x3 + 3x2 − 4x + k, is

Options

  • 3

  • 1

  • -2

  • -3

MCQ

Solution

As (x - 1)is a factor of polynomial f(x) = 4x3 + 3x2 − 4x + k

Therefore,  f(1) = 0

`4(1)^3 + 3(1)^2 - 4(1) + k = 0`

                     `4 + 3 - 4 + k = 0`

                                             ` k = -3`
